Rim Joist Insulation in Ashland, WI

Before After
Rim Joist Insulation in Ashland, WI Rim Joist Insulation in Ashland, WI

The yellow insulation in these rim joists looks effective, but it was letting air pass right through it. The new insulation helps create a better air seal on the home and has led to a noticeably more comfortable home.

Job Stories From Ashland, WI
Cold and Drafty Home in Ashland, WI Insulated to Provide Year-Round Comfort

Owners of this recently purchased home in Ashland, WI knew they would need to eventually insulate it. After enduring one winter, they began looking for a solution for the uncomfortable conditions in their home. After learning about our company via their local newspaper, they called us to schedule a free, no-obligation estimate.

Our Dr. Energy Saver® Design Specialist Jacob Nustad-Peluso went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for this family. After inspecting the property and conducting an energy audit, it was determined that spray foam insulation at the rim joists in the basement, and blown-in insulation in the attic were necessary to effectively insulate the space.

Our production crew first removed the existing insulation in the attic. They then sealed the gaps in building material and spaces surrounding the attic ducts with a layer of closed-cell spray foam. Using SilverGlo™, a rigid foam insulation that is infused with graphite, our team constructed knee walls. This allows added protection to the roof deck from outside air. From there, they used our TruSoft™ cellulose to blow into the space. TruSoft™ has a higher R-value than fiberglass and other cellulose materials.

Sealing this attic will drastically reduce the rate of cold air entering the home and warm air escaping the home - in short - lower energy bills and more comfortable conditions.

Dirt Crawl Space in Ashland, WI Now Sealed

This Ashland, WI home had a dirt crawl space that was prone to water. Tired of musty smells, and inconsistent temperatures in the rest of the home, this homeowner reached out to us after meeting us at the Ashland Home Show.

A DBS Design Specialist visited the home for a free inspection and no-obligation estimate for the work. To combat this problem, encapsulating the space entirely was the best option.

CleanSpace® drainage matting, and a protective vapor barrier were laid down to seal the dirt floor. TerraBlock™ and closed-cell spray foam insulation were used to help regulate temperature in the space, which will in turn make the home more energy-efficient.

The homeowner was pleased with the done work and now has a more safe and comfortable home to enjoy!

We are building our own home, which is a small, one story, open-plan layout with a four-inch wall cavity on the inside and a 9.5-inch "fat" wall cavity to the outside (fat wall built with Larsen trusses). Our footprint is 22x44 feet. We are wanting an estimate for dense packing the inner and outer wall cavities, and interior walls (for sound deadening) with dense pack cellulose. (the house wrap on the outside of the "fat" wall is reinforced and made for dense packing through, and we have the insulweb netting for the inside wall cavity (4") already on site.) The 4" wall cavity wall is 22x44 feet, and 9 feet high. The outer 9.5" "fat" wall is roughly 24x46 feet and also 9 feet tall. There are roughly 35 feet of 4-inch interior walls, 9 feet high, that we'd like dense packed to help with sound deadening between rooms as well. We can email some of the plans, cross sections, etc. if that helps with estimating. Thank you!

My husband and I are building our own home this summer, which will have 2x4 stud framing covered by OSB, then a 9 and a half inch deep Larson truss to the outside of that. The Larson truss (on the outside) and the 2x4 stud wall (to the inside) will be filled with dense-packed cellulose. We'd like an estimate for having this done, and could email our plans to you. The house is 22x44 footprint, one story, and the walls are 9 feet high.

HUGE icicles hanging off our home already, and it's not even December yet! I feel drafts and I know the home is not insulated well. It is an old home that we just purchased in March of 2014 and it has a lot of old crawlspaces and walkways that are no longer used and blocked off but I am pretty sure there is little to no insulation in these areas. We are interested in getting an estimate if you come all the way to Ashland. Please contact me via email or phone to set this up. :)
